I think there are many moments where you can see Nine falling in love with Rose…that like in the real world it is process that happens incrementally, almost without comprehension. However, I would argue that it is this moment during WWIII when it all coalesces and it is clear that not only is he falling in love with her, he is fallen. It is also the moment when he recognizes and accepts that it has happened. I also believe that Rose, as young and compared to him, naive, as she is understood that before and it’s her acceptance that helps him accept it.
The love that exists between Ten and Rose gets much more attention, mostly because it is much less sub-textual in nature, but I think the chemistry and emotion between Nine and Rose (or CE & Billie) was incredible. This moment never fails to strike me and sets the stage for everything that comes after.
